Conviviality Retail has changed its name as it completes the purchase of UK on-trade distributor Matthew Clark.

The company will now be known as Conviviality, following the closure of the GBP200m (US$300m) deal. Conviviality announced last month it would take full ownership of Matthew Clark from owners Accolade Wines and Punch Taverns.

Diana Hunter, CEO of Conviviality, said: “We are delighted to have completed the acquisition of Matthew Clark. The combination of the two companies is a great strategic fit and a transformational acquisition for Conviviality.”

Conviviality, which owns Bargain Booze and Wine Rack, opened talks with Matthew Clark over a possible acquisition in July. In August, it entered into a 'non-disposal undertaking' with Accolade and Punch.
