The Pepsi Bottling Group has started work on a new warehouse in Tampa, Florida, next to the company's exisitng plant.

The new warehouse, to add to the company's existing facilities, will cover 100,000sq ft and will have an automated storage and retrieval system.

A Pepsi Bottling Group spokesperson told just-drinks yesterday (16 July): "We have long had a presence in Tampa with a production facility and existing warehouse already there. This new facility will just add to our presence."

Work has already started on the warehouse, which is expected to be operational by the end of 2008. A sum was not disclosed for the cost of the new facility.

Last week, the company posted a healthy lift in second quarter profits thanks to price rises in the three-month period.

Net profit was up 12% to US$174m and operating profit was also up, at $350m from $338m.
