Carlsberg has appointed a new CEO for its British unit. The Danish brewer announced yesterday that Lars Fellman will head Carlsberg UK, with former CEO Colin Povey leaving the company by mutual agreement.

Previously, Fellman was senior vice president and chairman of the board of directors of Carlsberg UK. He will keep his responsibilities for the Carlsberg business operations in Switzerland, Italy and Portugal. Fellman joined Carlsberg in 1993 and has held several management positions within the group.

As CEO, Fellman's primary focus will be to strengthen the operational performance of Carlsberg UK and the position of the Carlsberg brand which has developed very positively over the last few years.

Povey held the position of CEO since 2001 and led the business during a period of structural changes and growth.
