Carlsberg has appointed a managing director for its Chinese operations. The Danish brewer said yesterday (2 May) that Michael Fredskov Christiansen will assume the position from 1 July.

Christiansen will be responsible for managing acquisitions and integration strategy in western China, the company said. Carlsberg's strategy for the Chinese market also includes joint ventures and own products' selling.

Earlier this year, Carlsberg said that it is looking to expand in China over the next two year, with a view to making acquisitions and brewery investments of between DKK3bn (US$518.1m) and DKK4bn.
