The beverage arm of Nestle, which released its Q1 results yesterday, said that the Abaji plant will produce Nestle Pure Life bottled water. The company also operates a factory in Ogun state.

The 14.6-hectare site will create 111 jobs and house a training centre for Nigerian engineering students.

In Q1 sales figures yesterday, Nestle Waters posted sales of CHF1.8bn, representing 5.3% organic growth for the first three months of the year. The unit posted double-digit growth in emerging markets, driven by Nestle Pure Life. Its premium international brands Perrier and S.Pellegrino also grew by double-digits.

Last month, Nestle Waters extended its Perrier slim cans product range in Canada to include Lemon and L'Orange. The new flavours join Perrier Original, Lime and Pink Grapefruit in the format.
