National Beverage Corp. has posted a healthy rise in full-year income.
The Florida-based soft drinks company said late last week that 2006 fiscal earnings for the year to the end of April came in at US$22.2m, compared to US$16.9m in the corresponding period a year earlier. Sales also rose for the drinks company, reaching US$516.8m against US$495.6m a year ago.
Fourth-quarter earnings were up by an impressive 71% year-on-year at US$5.7m, while sales increased to US$133.4m against US$120.7m.
"Much is happening at National Beverage to be pleased about," said Nick Caporella, chairman and CEO. "Notwithstanding the weather events of our first quarter and the combined energy and raw material cost increases...the second, third and fourth quarter results made this a great year for our company."
"Our focus on internal product development has never been stronger and we will be introducing a female line extension of our Rip It energy beverage in a few weeks," he added. "In addition, we are near the launch of a new 'segment' of Wellness, and are progressing with good and fun alternatives in the children's beverage category...which have the potential to deliver superior margins outside the traditional carbonated soft drink marketplace."
National Beverage produces energy drinks, powders, soft drinks, bottled waters, juices and juice products.
