National Beverage Corp. (NBC) has filled the vacant position on its audit committee

Cecil Conlee will replace Lee Kling who served as an independent director and member of the company's audit committee from 1993 until his passing in July last year, the soft drinks company said yesterday (20 January).

Conlee has served on the strategic planning committee of the company since 1995 and was a lead director of Burnup & Sims Inc. for more than 20 years, enabling him to gain knowledge and experience during the formative period in which National Beverage was created.

He is also the founding partner and CEO of real estate investment and advisory firm CGR Advisors.

"Our board welcomes Mr. Conlee with his wealth of experience and distinguished reputation as a leader and public servant. He exemplifies the level of professionalism and business acumen vital to the competitive global marketplace," said Nick Caporella, NBC's chairman and CEO.

Late last month, NBC posted a 0.7% lift in sales for the six months to the end of October, coming in at US$297.3m. Profit rose by 4% to $14.2m.
