Morrison Bowmore Distillers has been awarded ISO 14000 for its Environmental Management Systems in addition to its existing ISO 9000 for its Quality Management Systems.

"What makes this impressive is that the accreditation applies to the company's three Single Malt distilleries namely Bowmore Islay Distillery, Auchentoshan Lowland Distillery and Glen Garioch Highland Distillery. This is truly a global achievement as no other whisky distiller across the world can boast such a combined standard of distilling," the company said in a release.

Andrew Rankin Whisky Supply Director commented on the achievement: 'We are extremely proud that our hard work has been recognised in achieving not just one but importantly both ISO 9000 and ISO 14000.

"Throughout the whole international supply chain as well as our global customer chain, ISO 9000 and 14000 accreditation is being requested. To be the only distiller in the world to hold both is an extremely powerful combination. We have demonstrated that harmony can exist between a commitment to the quality of product distilled whilst being considerate of and accommodating the environment throughout our production process."
