Molson Coors is to renew its sponsorship of the National Football League (NFL) in the US, it was reported yesterday.

The Sports Business Journal, citing unidentified sources, reported that the North American brewer had signed a new five-year deal.

NFL spokesman Brian McCarthy has confirmed the deal. Both of Molson Coor's major rivals Anheuser-Busch and Miller were thought to have been interested in the deal.

Coors' is the current sponsor of the NFL. The four-year deal was worth US$240m. It expires and the end of this season.
