Molson Coors has confirmed the amount of costs it will record from the closure of a brewery in Canada earlier this year.

Speaking to just-drinks today (31 August), a spokesperson for the brewer said that a cost of US$9m will be recorded later this year, following the closure of its Edmonton, Alberta brewery this month.

The US$9m will go towards "severance packages and pension payments" for unionised and salaried employees at the facility, the spokesperson said.

The costing will appear in Molson Coors' results for the third and fourth quarters of this year, "but mostly in the fourth", the spokesperson added.

The brewer will report its third quarter results in early November.
