Moët & Chandon has lined up an international advertising tie-up with actress Scarlett Johansson.

The French Champagne house, owned by French luxury goods group LVMH, unveiled Johansson as its "muse" at  an event at Big Sky studios in London yesterday (24 march).

The event, based on Moët's 'Tribute to Cinema' theme, saw Johansson welcomed by around 500 guests, including invitees from several Moët & Chandon markets, including Germany, Russia and the UK.

"I am honoured to have been chosen as their ambassador and to make history with the brand, as the first celebrity face of Champagne," said Johansson.

Frédéric Cumenal, president of Moët & Chandon, added: "Scarlett Johansson was the obvious choice as our ambassador because she, like Moët, has a magical story to tell and makes people dream."

The celebrity endorsement will see Moët launch an international advertising campaign, featuring Johansson, next month. The campaign will include print, outdoor and online advertising, featuring Moët and Scarlett as "icons of celebration", the company said, "reinforcing the brand as the Champagne of cinema".

Financial details behind the agreement were not disclosed.
