MillerCoors has continued to expand its hard soda portfolio with the launch of an alcoholic iced tea.

Easy Tea Co is described as a lightly-carbonated hard iced tea with a citrus flavour and will roll out in 12 US states at liquor and convenience stores.

"We're excited to bring people a hard iced tea with just the right amount of sweetness," said Melissa Wagamon, Easy Tea's marketing manager for MillerCoors.

The 5% abv product follows the launch last week of Henry's Hard Cherry Cola, a flavour extension to MillerCoors' Henry's Hard Soda range.

Not Your Father's Root Beer loses out to rivals

The hard soda category has exploded in the US since last Summer, taking share from the cider category. However, last month, Boston Beer CEO Martin Roper said the cider category is about to lap the hard soda boom and that he expects declines to level out.
