Dan Werth will leave the chief customer officer role at MillerCoors at the end of the year

MillerCoors confirmed earlier this week that Dan Werth will step down at the end of the year. He is leaving to become COO at Washington state winery Ste Michelle Wine Estates, where he will report in to CEO - and former colleague - Jim Mortensen.

The pair worked together during the 1990s at Philip Morris USA. Mortensen held a senior sales role at Miller Brewing Co - then part of Philip Morris - when Werth was the brewer's GM for northern California.

"I never thought I would leave MillerCoors, but this is the kind of opportunity where you just can't say no," said Werth. "They know what they're getting, I know what I'm getting into, and I get the chance to take on new challenges and an expanded portfolio."

It was not immediately clear if Werth will be replaced in the chief customer officer role at MillerCoors.
