Michael David Winery (MDW) has purchased a wine facility in California's North Coast region.

The company said yesterday that it had bought the Geyserville winery from Silver Oak Cellars. The deal includes a winery, tasting rooms and vineyards.

Meanwhile, Silver Oak will move to a new Alexander Valley production facility in June.

MDW's acquisition, which features 12 acres of Cabernet Sauvignon vineyards within Sonoma's Alexander Valley AVA, is the company's largest to date. The firm has previously sourced grapes from the North Coast region.

"Quality fruit from the North Coast region has always played an important role as blending components to our wines," said Kevin Phillips, VP of operations at MDW. "Having the ability to make these North Coast lots from harvest to glass adds another level of control and quality assurance to our finished wines."

MDW, which produces brands such as The 7 Deadly Zins, Freakshow and Petite Petit, has 800 acres of vineyard in California's Lodi appellation.

Financial details behind the transaction were not disclosed.
