UK wine agency Buckingham Vintners has added Languedoc-based French producer Maison Maurel Vedeau to its portfolio.

Established in 1992 by winemaker Stéphane Vedeau and St-Chinian producer Philippe Maurel, Maurel Vedeau has a diverse range of wines, from varietal Vins de Pays to AOC wines.

Now owned by Vedeau and Languedoc owner/producer Domaines Bonfils, it has winemaking operations throughout the Languedoc and Rhône and exports nearly all of its production to markets including the UK, Germany, the US, Canada and Japan.

Buckingham Vintners managing director Graham Sumeray said: "What's really impressed us is the quality of the wines, Stéphane's flexibility in adjusting styles to suit the UK palate and his understanding of the requirements of the UK market - aspects that are rare in a French supplier."

Vedeau added that he was "excited" to be working with Buckingham, which he described as "one of the most professional UK agencies".
