The Chinese brewer Fujian Sedrin Brewery is in takeover talks with a number of major international groups including Anheuser-Busch and Heineken, according to a report in the Financial Times.

The brewer, based in the southeastern province of Fujian, is thought to be discussing the sale of a controlling stake to a major international partner.

Fujian Sedrin Brewery is the eighth largest brewer in China and is valued at around US$800m. The government owns a 38.1% share in the brewer, with local authorities controlling a further 1.4%. The rest of the shares are privately held.

InBev owns a brewery in the neighbouring province and has also been suggested as a possible buyer for Fujian Sedrin.
