Majestic has scrapped its six-bottle policy in the UK

UK wine retailer Majestic Wines has scrapped its six-bottle minimum in a bid to make shopping "simpler".

The company, which acquired online rival Naked Wines earlier this year, said the move follows a successful trial.

But customers who buy six bottles of wines and/or spirits will still be rewarded at Christmas, with deals including "at least 10% off and up to 33% off all wines and spirits".

Rowan Gormley, who founded Naked Wines and is now Majestic's CEO, said: “Our customers were telling us that they wanted simpler, clearer pricing, and an end to the six bottle minimum. This new structure is part of our wider plan to reposition Majestic Wine to become the go-to destination for the best quality wines at the best prices. There are now no barriers to shopping at Majestic, the pricing structure is very straightforward and I’m sure our customers will see this as a great move.”

Last month, Majestic Wine appointed John Colley to lead its Majestic-branded wine stores.
