LVMH Moet Hennessy Louis Vuitton has not ruled itself out of the race for Glenmorangie.
Speaking to Dow Jones, the head of LVMH's wines and spirits division, Christophe Navarre, said: "We are aware of the sale, of their high operating margin, and their strong position in the market."
Navarre also said that his division is always interested in super-premium brands, and added that he considers Glenmorangie to be a super-premium brand.
LVMH has strong positions in premium cognac and vodka, but Navarre said tequila, rum or liqueur could also fit nicely in its liquor cabinet.
Speculation has been rife about potential buyers since the Macdonald Family and Trust - who own over 50% of Glenmorangie - to sell their entire shareholding in the company. This, in turn, triggered the sale of the company.
