Lotte Chilsung Beverage Co. has bought another Chinese beverage maker. The South Korean company announced today (8 November) that it has acquired a drinks maker in the country's Henan Province for US$23m. The business will be renamed Lotte Aodeli Beverage Co., and will have a broad sales network across China.

Lotte Chilsung, which specialises in bottled water, soda and sports drinks, said that the new unit should bring in US$48m worth of sales this year. The Korean company plans to strengthen its retail channels in major cities and introduce its own soft drink, orange-flavoured drink and other beverage brands to China. If consumer response is favourable, Lotte Chilsung said it may produce some of its South Korean brands at the new unit.

The South Korean company produces alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, including fruit juices, teas and soy milk. In September, Lotte Chilsung bought a drinks maker for US$3m and renamed it Lotte Huabang Beverage Ltd.
