This year's LIWF, as in previous years, ran from Tuesday to Thursday

The London International Wine Fair, traditionally held on the middle three days of a week in late May, is moving to Monday next year.

Brintex, the London-based organiser of the trade exhibition, said earlier today (30 August) that the LIWF in 2013 will start on Monday 20 May and will run for the usual three days. The decision has been taken "as a result of extensive research and feedback from both visitors and exhibitors over the summer", Brintex said.

“We have had an overwhelmingly positive response that Monday would be preferable to Thursday," said exhibition director James Murray. "As a result of the change, we are expecting to attract a greater number of the on-trade as well as independents who tend to be quieter on Mondays and more able to leave their businesses to spend time at the show.”

Speaking to just-drinks earlier, a spokesperson for Brintex was unable to confirm if any of the absentees from this year's event, including Pernod Ricard, Percy Fox and PLB, have yet signed up for a return in 2013.

The exhibition will remain at the ExCel hall.
