Laurent-Perrier has posted a rise in sales and profit for the first half of fiscal 2004/2005. The French champagne maker saw net attributable profit for the six-month period to 30 September 2004 hit €4.2m (US$5.6m), a rise of 19.4% year-on-year.

Operating profit leapt by 30.3% to €13.5m for Laurent-Perrier, while turnover also increased, by 26.8% to €88.7m for the period.

Management at the company expects revenue for the full fiscal period to reach €210m.

Despite the upsurge in the first half of the period, annual net profit would be limited, however, by the effects of the acquisition of rival Chateau Malakoff, the unfavourable exchange rates, and commercial costs, which are to be more pronounced than in the first half of the year, the management explained.
