Champagne Lanson, which also sponsors the Wimbledon tennis tournament, will be the official Champagne pour at all RSC bars in the theatre company's hometown of Stratford-upon-Avon. Financial details or the length of the partnership were not disclosed.

The RSC performs William Shakespeare's plays around the world. It is based in the Royal Shakespeare Theatre in Stratford-upon-Avon, the town in which Shakespeare was born.

According to figures last month from trade association Comite Champagne, Champagne sales remained relatively flat in 2018 as volumes dropped on poor demand in France and the UK. Sales for the 12 months stood as EUR4.9bn (US$5.5bn), or 0.3% higher than in 2017. Volumes were down 2% to 301.9m bottles driven by 4% volumes falls in both the UK and France, the two biggest markets for Champagne.
