La Martiniquaise-Bardinet has utilised a partnership between its Glen Moray Scotch whisky brand and Scottish cider producer Thistly Cross for a new iteration for the single malt portfolio. Glen Moray Cider Cask Project will be available exclusively in the UK later this month.

Over the last four years, Thistly Cross Cider Co has been using ex-Bourbon barrels from Glen Moray to produce Whisky Cask Cider under its namesake brand name. Earlier this week, Glen Moray said it has been experimenting with transferring its whisky into Thistly Cross casks for an unspecified period of time.

The resulting liquid makes up the first release from Glen Moray's 'Elgin Curiosity' range.

"When I first tasted the Whisky Cask Cider it was immediately obvious that the whisky flavours complemented the cider flavours perfectly," said Glen Moray master distiller Graham Coull. "The logical next step for me was to see what the cider could bring to the whisky."

As well as the cider expression, Glen Moray has also released expressions that have Chardonnay and Sherry casks.

La Martiniquaise-Bardinet acquired Glen Moray from Moet Hennessy in 2008.
