The Foundation for the Promotion of Castilla La Mancha Wines, created by the regional government in partnership with the region's wineries, is to launch a €7m promotional campaign to drive sales of Castilla La Mancha wine in its export markets.

Castilla La Mancha accounts for 50% of total Spanish wine production, making it Spain's largest producing region, yet wines from Castilla La Mancha currently represent just 5.63% (240,000 hl) of Spain's total UK volume share.

As a prelude to the new promotional activity, the first ever UK trade tasting of Castilla La Mancha wines will take place at The Mermaid Centre on Wednesday 13 April.
