KWV International has launched the second phase of its assault on the South African market with the introduction of its KWV 3-year-old brandy and Cathedral Cellar and KWV Classic ranges as it expands its domestic portfolio.

The new products were introduced in new packaging, which forms part of a brand strategy and corporate redesign project that has been underway for the past year.

The new labels will be rolled out to KWV's 35 international markets from early next year.

Probably the most significant step is the introduction of the brandy, which will be fighting in the highly competitive proprietary segment of the market. Distell has for many years been the dominant player in the domestic brandy market.

In May last year KWV launched a limited number of products onto the domestic market, concentrating on the KWV Reserve range, Roodeberg and Roberts Rock and Pearly Bay. In July KWV, together with Racke GmbH, its Germany joint venture partners, launched the Golden Kaan brand into the South African market.
