It is all systems go for the dissolution of KWV into two entities to look after its commercial interests and producer interests following a special general meeting of the Co-operative in Worcester yesterday

The Co-operative members had to ratify the overwhelming vote in favour by KWV shareholders at last week's AGM to split the two bodies.

There are over 4,800 wine farmer members of the Co-op, but only between 500 and 600 cast votes at yesterday's meeting, compared to 52% of all shareholders last week.

This small group returned an 85% vote of confidence.

The Co-operative will henceforth be known as Wijngaard Co-operative (derived from the Dutch for vineyard), while the commercial company will now be known as KWV Limited.

KWV Limited will remain an unlisted public company and it is expected that free trading in its shares will commence in the new year.
