KWV Investments, the KWV Group's listed company, whose sole asset is a 30% share in Distell, reported an 8.7% drop in headline earnings per share for the past financial year.

These follow the release on Monday of Distell's figures.

The EPS at the end of June was down to 150c compared with 164.3c for the same period last year.

Each KWV Investment share represented 1,397 Distell shares and a final dividend of 55.735c per share was declared compared with 57c in 2000.

Pre-tax profit was down R6.5 million (US $774 169) from the R36.1 million recorded in 2000. Headline earnings were down to R62.9 million from R69 million - a fall of 8.7%.
