Kosta Browne Winery, the Californian wine producer, has taken on new private equity partners as its eyes vineyard acquisitions. 

The Sonoma-based group said today it has agreed a new “partnership” with investment firm JW Childs Associates. The deal also includes the addition of the CIRQ Pinot Noir brand from the Russian River Valley. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. 

The Vincraft Group, another private equity firm, has ceded control of Kosta Browne having first taken a stake in 2009. 

In a statement, Kosta Browne, which was established in 1997, said that JW Childs group is a “natural fit” for it to explore “further vineyard acquisitions and investments towards taking wine quality to a new level”. 

Adam Suttin, a partner at JW Childs Associates, said: “We believe in what Kosta Browne has built and are thrilled to help them continue their quest. We see this as an incredible opportunity and are extremely excited to support this iconic winery.”
