Kirin Beverage Corp. has posted a halving in net profit for the first six months of this year. The group said today that net profit slumped to JPY1.03bn (US$9.2m) from JPY2.18bn in the corresponding period a year earlier.

Sales for the six months dipped to JPY177.19bn from JPY177.56bn. Operating profit was down to JPY4.18bn from JPY5.68bn. Earnings per share crashed to JPY18.70 from JPY39.65.

Net profit beat downgraded forecasts by Kirin at the end of July of JPY1bn.

Full year forecasts were also released today (8 August). The group expects sales to hit JPY391bn for the period, with net profits reaching JPY8.70bn. Earnings per share should be JPY156.90 for the year, Kirin said.
