A Nepalese rum is about to be released in the US. Khukri Rum will be available in a 375-ml dagger-shaped bottle through Liquid Treasure Imports, the importer said yesterday (8 February).

The rum is distilled in column stills and aged for at least eight months in oak vats. Khukri Rum is also available in a 750ml standard bottle. The spirit is already available in select markets in the US, with distribution scheduled to extend to other markets in the next few months.

Douglas Loughran, president, Liquid Treasure Imports, said: "We are proud to introduce this sensational rum, which we feel offers the US market a fresh approach to premium rum and presents on- and off-premise establishments an opportunity to increase profits through a brand that consumers will demand."

Khukri Rums are distilled by Nepal Distilleries in Kathmandu, Nepal and imported to the US by Liquid Treasure Imports, a Pennsylvania-based beverage importer.

The rum is already available in Canada, the UK, Japan, Dubai, Italy and Hong Kong.
