Kautz Family Vineyards has appointed a new sales and marketing executive.

The California-based wine company said yesterday (11 February) that Ron Johnson will assume the position of senior vice president of sales and marketing. Johnson joins Kautz from Sebastiani Vineyards, where he had been executive vice president of sales and marketing.

"We believe the recent hiring of Richard Conley as COO and Ron Johnson sends an unmistakable message to our distribution and trade partners. A message which clearly states we intend to excel," said company president Stephen Kautz.

Kautz appointed Conley as its COO in December. Conley had served as COO and executive vice president of wine group Don Sebastiani & Sons.

The family-owned company has around 5,000 acres of vineyards in Lodi and the Sierra Foothills in California, with brands including Ironstone, Sonoma Creek and Dog Tail Vineyards.
