Starco has been requested to stop using a style that infringes the trade dress of Katalyst's Sippin Syrup

Katalyst Beverage Corp has been awarded a preliminary injunction against Starco Impex for trademark infringement.

The company, which itself was the subject of a trademark infringement charge last year, has said that, last Friday (10 December), the US District Court for the District of New Jersey handed down an 'opinion and order' ruling. The court requested that Starco stop manufacturing relaxation drinks under the similar brand name Sum Syzrrup and from using a packaging design and style that infringed the trademark of Katalyst's Sippin Syrup.

"We are very pleased that the court saw fit to issue this injunction, and we are committed to protecting the value of our Sippin Syrup brand," said Ron Urban, CEO of Katalyst.

Urban added that Katalyst will continue to pursue monetary damages and permanent injunctive relief in conjunction with the lawsuit.
