The German brewer, Karlsberg, reported turnover of €589m ($581.8m) for fiscal year to the end of March 2002, representing a 1.2% increase from the previous year.

The company, in which Heineken recently acquired a 45% stake, said it registered a profit for the 2001/2002 fiscal year but did not publish any further details. The company did say that it planned to launch its pre-mixed drinks, Mixery and Desperados, in export markets and also planned to launch a new beer brand called Blondes.

Karlsberg's managing director, Richard Weber, is also chairman of the German Brewers Union.
