Texas-based craft brewer Karbach Brewing Co has confirmed plans for a US$15m expansion project.

The Houston-based company, whose beers include Rodeo Clown Double IPA and Sympathy For the Lager, said the investment at its brewery will grow its annual capacity to 60,000 barrels, with room for future growth. The new facility will house a 120 barrel German-designed brewhouse, tasting room, private event space and kitchen.

The move is also expected to add 100 jobs to the “Houston community”, the company said.

Karbach said it produced nearly 19,000 barrels of beer in 2013, and is on course to hit 29,000 barrels this year.

Last week, the Brewers Association said that US craft beer volumes in 2013 rose by 18%, while value sales climbed by 20% to US$14.3bn.
