Jones Soda Co. has appointed a new director to its board.

The Seattle-based company said yesterday (30 August) that Richard Eiswirth is to join the board, while Matt Kellogg has resigned.

Eiswirth is the current CFO of pharmaceutical company Alimera Sciences in Atlanta, having previously founded two companies, Brand Ignition and Black River Holding. He has also served as a senior manager on the Arthur Andersen's audit and advisory team.

"We are excited to bring in a new member to the board with great financial experience and a clear understanding of Sarbanes Oxley," said Peter van Stolk, Jones' president and CEO.

Eiswirth has also been appointed to the company's audit committee.

Kellogg is leaving both the board and the audit committee after eight years, due to other business commitments, the company said.

Earlier this month, Jones posted a rise in second quarter revenues of almost 12% to US$10m. The company turned a loss in the three-month period a year ago into net income of US$2.3m.
