The distillers of Johnnie Walker Scotch Whisky have announced the launch of Johnnie Walker Green Label in the UK. Green Label will be the only blended malt whisky in the portfolio.

The UK launch, announced earlier this month, is set to coincide with the 200th anniversary of the birth of John Walker on 25 July 1805.

The blended malt consists of four key signature single malt scotch whiskies: Caol Ila, Talisker , Linkwood and Cragganmore.

Ian Low, master of blending at Johnnie Walker, said: "With this whisky we also have something that is a little bit different. Unlike the other Johnnie Walker whiskies, Green Label is a blended malt, which means that the characteristics of the individual single malts are more distinctive."

Johnnie Walker Green Label (43% ABV) is available in Tesco, selected Threshers and whisky specialists around the country, at a recommended retail price of GBP24.99.
