A provisional contract agreement has been reached between Jinro Ltd. and workers at its distilleries in South Korea. The labour union at Jinro said that the two sides reached the provisional agreement following discussions over the weekend. A partial strike had begun on Friday.

According to union officials, the sides came to a tentative agreement over demands for a pay rise, five-day working week and better working conditions. They said the specific conditions of the employment terms would be disclosed once they are approved by the union after a vote this week.

Late last week, the union had begun a partial strike with work stoppages of four hours during each eight-hour shift. The stoppages affected the company's three soju distilleries in Icheon, Gyeonggi Province, Cheongwon in North Chungcheong Province and Masan, South Gyeongsang Province.
