Jamba, the US juice and smoothie firm, has appointed James White as its new CEO and president.

White, who was most recently senior vice president for consumer brands at the Safeway retailer, is set to take up his position on 1 December, Jamba said yesterday (17 November).

Steven Berrard, interim CEO and president, said that White "brings significant expertise in consumer branding and innovation that will further help us to focus on the best strategic opportunities to leverage our brand and create long-term shareholder value".

Berrard will continue as chairman of the group.

California-based Jamba signed a globla licensing deal with Nestle USA, giving the Nestle the right to produce and distribute a line of healthy ready-to-drink beverages under the Jamba brand name.
