Jackson Family Wines has created a European sales director role as it looks to bolster its presence in the region.

Warren Adamson has joined the company from Craggy Range Vineyards, where he was most recently global sales director. Adamson took on the new role last month and will be based in the UK.

"With strategic growth developing within the European market, this appointment is pertinent to the wider corporate structure," the company said.

Privately-owned JFW comprises a portfolio of vineyards in California and Oregon as well as international estates in St Emilion, Tuscany, McLaren Vale, Stellenbosch and Chile.

The company's brands include Kendall-Jackson, Silver Palm, Byron and Yangarra.

In May this year, the company added Healdsburg-based Copain Wines to its line-up. The transaction includes Copain's winery and tasting room. Financial details were not disclosed.

Earlier this year, JFW acquired Sonoma County's Siduri Wines, having also bought Fijnbosch farm in the Stellenbosch region of South Africa in late-2014.
