Jackson Family Wines, owner of the Kendall-Jackson brand, has made another California purchase

The privately-owned company said earlier this week that it will buy Healdsburg-based Copain Wines for an undisclosed sum. The transaction includes Copain's winery and tasting room.

Founded in 1999, Copain produces Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Syrah wines.

"Joining the Jackson Family Wines portfolio is an exciting and logical next step as we look toward the future," said Copain founder and winemaker Wells Guthrie. "We believe the Jackson Family's commitment to preserving the integrity of what we've built, while providing the resources to elevate our wines, will be a winning combination as we look to promote our style of winemaking on a broader scale."

Guthrie will continue as winemaker following the sale, with JFW providing sales, marketing, distribution and back-office administrative support.

The sale is expected to complete by the end of this month.

Earlier this year, JFW acquired Sonoma County's Siduri Wines, having also bought Fijnbosch farm in the Stellenbosch region of South Africa in late-2014.
