Scottish brewer Innis & Gunn has released its Barrel-Aged Gunnpowder IPA in the US market.

The beer is an American-inspired IPA brewed with Summit, Cascade, and Citra hops and finished in untoasted Bourbon barrels.

Innis & Gunn Barrel Aged Gunnpowder IPA will be available in a 4 pack of 11.2oz bottles across the country. The company will roll out a draught variant later this year.

"This beer is definitely an IPA first with the notes of the barrel actually rounding out the bitterness that hops typically impart in the beer," said Dougal Gunn Sharp, founder & master brewer at Innis & Gunn.

Last year, Innis & Gunn offloaded a 27.9% stake to LVMH-backed private equity firm L Catterton. Shortly afterwards, the brewer said two of L Catterton's executives would join its board of directors
