The Russian alcohol industry may be facing a 15% rise in excise duty, with the decision by the Russian government to the Duma a bill on raising taxes as of January 1, 2003. According to a report by Interfax, Deputy Finance Minister Sergei Shatalov told journalists after a March 21 Cabinet session that the the rise in taxes would be particularly focused on alcohol.
