InBev is poised to acquire Tinkoff in Russia, according to local reports. In today's (2 June) Kommersant daily, a report claims that the Belgian brewer is close to acquiring the privately-held brewery group as well as the Tinkoff trademark for around US$300m.

Citing Russian industry resources, the paper says that the owner of Tinkoff, Oleg Tinkoff, and SUN Interbrew, which is 99% held by InBev, signed a preliminary agreement last Friday.

In addition to cash, the paper says, Tinkoff will receive not only SUN Interbrew shares but also a seat on the  board. He is expected to stay at Tinkoff and continue managing operations for a period of time after the deal, the paper adds.

Tinkoff will also retain ownership of the Tinkoff restaurant chain.
