InBev has been granted a subsidy from the Hungarian government to set up a regional financial services centre in the country, according to local reports.

Hungarian News Digest reported yesterday (21 January) that the Economic and Transport Ministry has given the brewer HUF760m (US$4.3m) to create the unit.

InBev was unable to immediately confirm the reports when contacted by just-drinks today.

In 2006, the brewer said it was looking to "update its existing support platform for Europe". Included in the plans was the centralisation of its financial transactional activities for a number of European countries, including Belgium, Germany, Hungary and the UK. "Hungary has been identified as the most appropriate location for this centre," the company said at the time.

InBev owns the Hungarian brewer Borsodi Sorgyar.

Sectors: Beer & cider
