A group of illegal alcohol producers and distributors has been broken up in the Czech Republic, according to local reports.

Eight Czech and Slovak nationals have appeared in court after being detained last week, customs authority spokesman Zdenek Malek said yesterday (24 November).

Around 32,000 bottles of illegal vodka and rum, 3,600 litres of ethanol and a complete production line were seized in the raid, Malek said.

Three of the eight are still in custody pending possible charges, while the remaining five were released but are still under investigation.
