Ian Macleod Distillers has added a limited-edition gin to its Edinburgh Gin portfolio. The new Edinburgh Gin 1670 is the result of a partnership with the Royal Botanic Garden in the Scottish capital. The gin, which is limited to 12,000 bottles, contains "rare and exotic botanicals" from the garden. Botanicals include Piper Leaf, Tasmannia Lanceolata Leaf and Tasmanian Mountain Pepper.
"It gives the team at the Botanics a real sense of pride to think that the Edinburgh Gin 1670 has been inspired by the very first physic garden created by Robert Sibbald and Andrew Balfour in 1670," said Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh botanist Greg Kenicer.
Edinburgh Gin 1670 will be exclusively sold in John Lewis stores along with "selected specialist retailers", the Edinburgh Gin distillery shop and its website.
