The recent hurricane season in Florida has prompted Tropicana to raise its prices on orange and grapefruit juices.

Orange juice product prices will increase by between 3% and 5 %, while grapefruit juice may increase by up to 24%. Citing "unprecedented hurricane impact that has significantly impacted the Florida citrus supply and costs," the company informed retailers last week that price hikes will take effect on shipments beginning on 28 November.

Based on average wholesale prices and standard mark-ups, the price of a 64-ounce carton of grapefruit juice will rise by US$0.60 to US$3.12 wholesale (US$4.68 retail).

Tropicana Products Inc., a subsidiary of PepsiCo, is Florida's largest juice processor.
