New UK brewery Hop & Hemp Brewing Co has said its CBD low-alcohol beer will expand consumption occasions for beer to earlier in the day.

The brewery's debut launches are two 0.5%-abv beers infused with CBD from hemp. Hop & Hemp said the mix of CBD and very low alcohol has the potential to "change drinking habits and extend the hours during which beer is conventionally consumed".

The beers are Easy Times IPA and Lowdown Lager. Each beer contains 8mg of CBD per 33cl and is available for GBP13 (US$15) per four-pack from the Hop & Hemp website.

"We love beer. Sometimes maybe a little too much," said Hop & Hemp's James da Silva. "That's why we made it our mission to create brews that have all the big flavours of the best craft beer that is suitable to drink throughout the day. With no sore head and no Sunday write-off, this product is perfectly placed to provide a viable alternative to regular abv beers."

Interest in CBD has skyrocketed this year. Last month, US company Cann rolled out a low-dose cannabis beverage containing 4mg of CBD and 2mg of THC, the psychoactive component of cannabis.
