A new regional carbonated soft drink has been launched in Johannesburg and Soweto. Hola, aimed at South Africa's informal hawking and spaza shop trade, is available in 340ml cans.

The African Council of Hawkers and Informal Business (ACHIB) has entered into a joint venture with Gauteng-based Beverage Packaging SA. The new joint venture, through Main Market Distribution (MMD) (Pty) Ltd, is offering a range of five soft drinks at an entry level of ZAR2.99 (US$0.45).

The JV hopes to sell in the region of 250,000 cans a month, the current capacity of Beverage Packaging.
