Henkell said today the acquisition, from Sassoli de Bianchi, gives it the trademark rights to Mangaroca Batida de Côco as well as other Mangaroca brands such as aperitif Mangaroca Batida Royal and Mangaroca Cachaça.

Henkell already distributes Batida de Côco in Germany and will now handle it globally, a spokesperson told just-drinks.

"Batida de Côco is a fantastic brand with a lot of enthusiastic young fans," said Henkell CEO Andreas Brokemper. "With new ideas we plan to continue the brand's success both nationally and internationally."

The 16%-abv Batida de Côco is a Brazilian-style coconut liqueur used in a number of cocktails. Batida de Coco means "beaten coconut" in Portuguese.

Last year, Henkell & Co took full control of UK-based wine supplier and brand owner Copestick Murray. The company previously owned 60%.
